Musical Audition

In Uncategorized on February 7, 2009 at 1:38 pm

Whoa. That was weird. A business meeting in the morning that ran way over. Then driving to the audition. Driving makes me nervous. Then late for audition, which always makes me WAYYY nervous. Then I get into the room and forget all my acting prep work, and forget the second line of the song. Twice. And everything I worked so hard on absolutely flew out the window.

And that was the audition.

And everyone there was nice about it but whoa, that was a traumatic morning.

Anyway, onwards.

The Worst Things About Marriage

In Uncategorized on January 2, 2009 at 12:58 pm

The worst things about marriage are cooking and cleaning.

How in the world is cooking 2 times per day every day supposed to be sustainable??? I can’t do it. I don’t have that many recipes in my head that he doesn’t give me the gross face at

Here are the variables:
Chicken
Beef
Pork
—–
Rice
Pasta
Rice Noodles
Egg Noodles
Occasionally bread
—–
Soup.

Vegetables he generally accepts. No dairy, fruit, peas, tomatoes. Now MAKE ME A MONTH’S WORTH OF RECIPES. Not repeating the meat item or carb item in the next meal. Please. Anybody. Help. I am going to die.

I am a bachelorette at heart. For myself, I can cook the same 10 minute meal each meal and be perfectly happy eating the same thing for 3 days. I will use one pot, one bowl and one pair of chopsticks, to avoid doing more dishes than neccesary.

I don’t know how an ENTIRE DISHWASHER / SINK gets full in one day. It absolutely baffles me. I hate this.

I hate that cooking takes so damned long
I hate that dishes appear from nowhere
I hate that right after I finish cooking once i have to think about cooking again

I am feeling VERY undomestic today.

getting email off server with untrusted security certificate

In Web Design and Web Related on September 12, 2008 at 11:05 pm

So apparent eHostPros (the server Steve has my beverlywu.com website on, that he describes as “crappy”) upgraded a whole bunch of stuff ~ 2 days ago…and trying to connect my email over a secure connection to their server something something something the certificates don’t match because it appears to be connecting to “ehostpros.com” when i ask it to connect to “beverlywu.com”

long story short,

my mac Mail program stopped retrieving email from beverlywu.com. ergh. couldn’t figure out why, until steve told me that they upgraded a bunch of stuff 2 days ago and/or the new browsers are getting really tough on security.

basically mail used to bitch about the security certificate, but now it just started rejecting it altogether.

long story even shorter,

i fixed it by somehow making it permanently accept the security certificate that it didn’t like, and presto! it retrieved a load of email to my inbox. i’d give more instructions but i can’t remember in which which menu i did this.

Tony’s Beef Noodle – Best Kept Secret in Vancouver!

In Uncategorized on August 4, 2008 at 8:16 pm
My review of Tony’s Beef Noodle on DineHere.ca. It’s located on the SE corner of Cambie and 41st, and is basically my favourite restaurant, so go visit them when you get the chance. I highly recommend it.————

Best Kept Secret in Vancouver!
I’m a total Tony’s Beef Noodle addict, frequenting this restaurant with my husband at least once per week. I would go so far as to call it MY FAVOURITE restaurant. Couldn’t believe NOBODY had reviewed this restaurant on DineHere before me, because this restaurant is an absolute diamond in the rough. At $5.50 for a hearty bowl of noodle soup, Taiwanese style, with chunks of melt-in-your-mouth stewed brisket, the thickest wheat noodles you’ve ever had, and deep coloured, aromatic soup, I would call this THE BEST VALUE IN VANCOUVER, beating out even your favourite Pho’ restaurant. I would also say that it beats out Wang’s Beef Noodle (Granville and ~70th) by a couple hundred percent in quality and taste. A great option for those nights when you just can’t bear to cook another meal.

Sure Bets on the menu:
#A1: Beef and Noodle in Soup (with choice of “sick or sin noodle” – chinese accented english for “thick or thin noodle”…cracks me up every time! I always order an extra little dish of pickled vegetables with my soup…it’s free)
#C12: Crispy Salt and Peppery Chicken (boneless chunks of chicken deep fried in a delicate batter, served with deep fried thai basil leaves. Yum-O!)

Service: Don’t expect the waiter/waitress to check up on you. If you want something, don’t be shy about raising your hand and flagging them down. I think it’s a cultural thing. There may be a little bit of a language barrier, but I’ve always ordered in English without too much trouble.

Ambience: None to speak of. It’s a very basic restaurant, diner style. But a GREAT place for good food and conversation with a few friends. Not pretentious at all!

Washroom: Uh, the single washroom at the back of this storefront restaurant is the size of a closet, and rather dirty in the corners. They always have toilet paper though. If you’re squeamish about this, head over to Oakridge Mall across the road.

There’s ample free street parking along 41st avenue, Cambie Street, and on some of the small streets around 41st avenue. Help support another business on Cambie Street during the Canada Line skytrain construction, because this is one little restaurant I would hate to see go under.

Hours of Operation:
11am-9pm Monday to Saturday
Closed Sunday

Definitely a restaurant worth making regular visits to, if only for the food, because in that respect, it can’t be beat!
